Welcome to our tutorial on adjusting resource loan duration in BiblioTECH's Resource Manager. In this guide, we will explore how to modify the loan days for resources during both the resource creation and editing processes. By understanding these settings, you can effectively control how long resources can be borrowed from your library. Let's begin!

Adjusting Loan Duration When Adding a New Resource
Only adjust the resource Loan Days in special cases where the specific resource requires Loan Days different than the rest of the resources. In most cases, Loan Days permissions are assigned per Level or Group.

  • Begin by logging in to the BiblioTECH web app using your credentials.
  • Once logged in, navigate to the dashboard.
  • From the dashboard, select the "Resource" button. This is where you access your library's resources.
  • Inside the Resource Manager, you'll find a list of your library's resources.
  • To add a new resource, locate and click the "Add Resources" button. This will initiate the resource creation process.
  • In the resource creation form, you'll see various fields to fill out, including "Max Days."
  • The "Max Days" field determines how long this resource can be loaned. By default, this field is empty (null), indicating that the resource can be loaned without a specific duration.
  • If you wish to set a specific loan duration, enter the desired number of days in the "Max Days" field. For example, if you set it to "14," patrons can borrow this resource for up to 14 days.
  • If you want to make the resource reference-only (not available for loan), set the "Max Days" field to "0" (zero).
  • Complete the rest of the resource details as needed.
  • Once you've filled out the form, click the "Save" button to add the resource to your catalogue.

Modifying Loan Duration When Editing a Resource
  • To adjust the loan duration of an existing resource, follow these steps:
  • Inside the Resource Manager, locate the resource you want to edit from the list of resources.
  • Click on the "Actions" button associated with that resource and select "Edit." This will open the resource editing form.
  • Within the editing form, find the "Max Days" field.
  • Modify the "Max Days" field as necessary. You can set it to a specific number of days or make it reference-only by setting it to "0."
  • If you make any other changes to the resource, ensure to update those fields accordingly.
  • After making your desired changes, click the "Update" button to save the modifications to the resource.

In BiblioTECH's Resource Manager, you have full control over the loan duration of your resources. By setting the "Max Days" field appropriately, you can determine how long patrons can borrow each resource. Whether you choose to provide flexible loan periods or enforce reference-only resources, these settings help tailor your library's lending policies. Thank you for following this tutorial!
