In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of resetting a patron's password and assigning passwords to patrons in bulk within the BiblioTECH library management system. Whether you need to help an individual patron regain access to their account or set or update passwords for multiple patrons during an import, BiblioTECH has you covered. Let's get started!

Resetting a Patron's Password:

Accessing Patrons Manager
  • Log in to your BiblioTECH library management system with appropriate administrative credentials.
  • Once logged in, locate and click on the "Patrons" button from the main menu. This is where you can manage patron accounts.

Changing the Password
  • In the Patrons Manager, you'll see a list of patron accounts. Locate the patron for whom you want to reset the password.
  • Next, click on the "Actions" button associated with that patron. This will open a drop-down menu of actions you can perform for that specific patron.
  • From the drop-down menu, select the "Change Password" option. This will prompt you to enter a new password for the patron.
  • Type in the new password as per your library's security policies.
  • Once you've entered the new password, click the "Update" button to save the changes.

Congratulations! You have successfully reset the password for the selected patron. Make sure to communicate the new password securely to the patron.

Bulk Password Allocation During Patron Import:

Accessing Patron Import
  • To set or update passwords for multiple patrons in bulk, you'll need to access the patron import feature in BiblioTECH.
  • Prepare a file with patron data, including the desired passwords for each patron. Ensure you have this file ready for import.

Initiating the Import
  • In your BiblioTECH library management system, navigate to the patron import section.

Assigning Passwords
  • During the patron import process, you will come across a "Password" field in your import file.
  • In this field, specify the password you want to set for each patron. You can set unique passwords for each patron or use the same password for multiple patrons, depending on your requirements.

Completing the Import
  • Continue with the patron import process as guided by the system. Ensure that you map the "Password" field in your import file correctly to the system's corresponding field.

Please note that if you do not wish to change or set passwords for certain patrons during the import, you can simply leave the "Password" field in your import file empty for those patrons.

BiblioTECH provides a straightforward way to reset individual patron passwords and efficiently assign passwords in bulk during patron imports. Whether you're assisting a single patron with a password reset or managing passwords for your entire patron base, these procedures ensure secure and convenient access to your library's resources.
