Welcome to our tutorial on how to manage patron groups using BiblioTECH's web app. In this guide, we will walk you through the process of creating, editing, and deleting groups in your library's patron database. Additionally, you will learn how to set specific loan parameters for these groups. Let's get started!

Accessing the Groups Tab
  • Begin by logging in to BiblioTECH's web app using your credentials.
  • After logging in, navigate to the dashboard, where you can access various management features.
  • In the dashboard, click on the "Patrons Manager" section. This is where you manage your library's patron database.
  • Within the Patrons Manager area, you'll find the "Groups" tab. Click on the "Groups" tab to access the Groups area.

Adding a Patron Group
  • In the Groups area, you can perform several actions, including adding new patron groups.
  • To add a new group manually, locate and click on the "Add Patron Group" button, situated at the top of the Groups area.
  • A group form will appear. The only compulsory field in this form is "Group Name."
  • You also have the option to set the "Max Resources" and "Max Loan Days" for this group. By default, these values are set to 5 and 14, respectively, but you can adjust them to suit your specific requirements.
  • The "Description" field allows you to add a brief description of the group, while the "Comment" field can be used for additional information or notes if needed.
  • After filling out the necessary fields, click on the "Save" button to create the group.

Managing Patron Groups
  • Within the Groups area, you'll find a list of all the existing patron groups.
  • For each group entry, you can perform various actions using the "Actions" button. These actions include "View," "Edit," and "Delete," and they are specific to each group.

Setting Loan Parameters
  • It's important to note that every patron in your database is linked to a Group and a Level.
  • When you set the "Max Days" and "Max Resources" for a group, all patrons within that group will have the same loan parameters.

Deleting Unused Groups
  • To keep your patron groups organised, you have the option to delete unused groups.
  • Click on the "Delete Unused Groups" button, which is located at the top of the Groups area. This action is typically part of the "Start of the Year Procedure" to clear out old and unused groups.

By following these steps, you can easily manage patron groups in BiblioTECH's web app. Creating, editing, and deleting groups, as well as setting specific loan parameters, helps you organise your patron database efficiently.
